Saint-Gerasimos monastery
According to the tradition, Gerasimos (1506-1579), which is patron saint of the island, would have cured many inhabitants reached of madness. Today still, two festivals rythment life of the monastery of
Saint-Gerasimos located in the South of the island (at 15 minutes of the village of Mitakata) : on 16th August (day commemorating his death) and on 20th October (date of the transfer of its skin in the church built above the cave where he lived).
